Jean-Louis Mourre is a third generation winemaker in the Vacqueyras. His kind eyes and genuine smile make the tour of his property a very warm experience on this brisk March morning. He has outgrown his old facility where tanks, barrels and vats are tucked into every conceivable nook and he is excited to tell us about the new winery currently under construction. One can only wonder how he crafts such delicious wines in these tight quarters. As we tour the domaine and taste with Jean-Louis he reminisces about memories of his father, Gilbert, and about riding on the big red tractor when he was four or five. He introduces us to his son Noah, now five years old, and proclaims him the fourth generation of winemakers in the Mourre family. For Jean-Louis making wine is about passion, tradition, and the integrity of making wine the way his father taught him. Except for the barrel fermented Cuvèe “G” (in memory of his father), a very rich and delicious blend of Grenache and Syrah, all of his wines are 100% stainless steel fermented. They are fresh and beautifullybalanced with rich concentration and purity of fruit.
